The Orchard extended care sober living facilities are for those who: need to further build an abstinence base for long term recovery require further therapeutic care in a protected environment wish to explore spiritual development and holistic principles hope to explore career options and development The Extended Care Program ("sober living, clean and sober house, sober house or recovery house") The Orchard Extended Care Program allows for client developed sober recovery and lifestyle objectives. Although this type of sober living is structured, it is far less restrictive than Primary Care. The client is able to work or go to school and begin to use their healthy sober living skills to reintegrate into society at large. The Orchard Extended Care Program is primarily self-regulated with certain restrictions including 20 hours a week of required recovery activities which may include 12-Step meetings, therapy, step work, Alumni Day, or Program time at The Orchard Primary Care Facility. Our sober living house also requires that the client does 20 hours a week of life skill activities which may include physical exercise, outdoor activities, volunteer work, paid work, housekeeping chores, church, temple, synagogue, lectures, alternative therapies, spiritual practices including Qi-Gong and Yoga or vocational counselling. Extra activity costs are the responsibility of the client.

The Orchard provides a minimum 30 days to indefinite length of stay, room, board and some cleaning, 12 step meetings, and recovery programming. Depending on the client's need, there are additional counselling, therapies, and holistic and spiritual practices available at additional cost.

The Facilities Men's Extended Care The Men's Extended Care Facility is located right next door to our Primary Care facility on Bowen Island. This sober living residence is a beautiful home set on a picturesque 2.5 acres. Tastefully decorated with semi-private and private rooms, the Men's Extended Care facility provides cozy common rooms with wood burning fireplaces, an open plan kitchen and a separate dining room. Our outdoor pool and exercise gym are also available to clients. Internet is provided.

Women's Extended Care
The Women's Extended Care Facility is located on a beautiful piece of property overlooking the coastal mountains and Howe Sound. This sober living house provides a safe and secure place to start again. Similar to the Men's facility, the house is tastefully decorated with semi-private and private rooms and a maximum of 7 clients. This Extended Care facility provides cozy common rooms with wood burning fireplaces, large wrap-around decks, an open plan kitchen and a separate dining room. Our outdoor pool and exercise gym are also available to clients. Internet is provided.

Cost of the Program
The cost of the Program is $3500.00 CAD per month (plus GST) for room and board. Payment is due on the first day and on that same date every month thereafter. Extra activity costs are the responsibility of the client.

The Orchard collects a $1000.00 deposit for clients wishing to reserve a room in our Extended Care Facility. The deposit is fully refundable when the client leaves Extended Care as long as there are no extra costs incurred as a result of damages.

Requirements for Extended Care
The Orchard Extended Care Program is available to individuals who have:

• Completed our 42-day Primary Program at The Orchard
• Completed a primary treatment program at a recognized treatment center and are 'door to door' to our Extended Care facility
• Previously completed primary care, have relapsed and then completed The Orchard's required 10-Day Primary Program before entrance to our Extended Care Program
• Completed a primary care program in the past and have not relapsed
• Consideration made for individuals who have completed an approved primary treatment program in the past and need more time in a protective environment
