The Orchard Extended Care Program provides sober living homes for clients requiring additional structure and support after completing a Primary Care Program. The first few months after treatment are the most vulnerable time for relapse as alumni are often overwhelmed by the challenges that lie ahead. Extended Care is a supportive environment where they can explore work, school and volunteer options as they learn to become accountable for making the decisions that will shape their lives. They regain their self-esteem, find freedom from fear and learn to lead balanced and healthy lives. The Orchard Extended Care Program is primarily self-regulated, with certain restrictions. Clients are required to participate in 20 hours of recovery activities each week, which may include 12-step meetings, step work, counseling, Alumni Day activities and program time at the Primary Care facility. They are also required to spend 20 hours each week on life skills activities, such as physical exercise, vocational counseling, outdoor activities, volunteer or paid work, housekeeping chores, religious services or spiritual activities such as Qigong or yoga. The Orchard Extended Care Program provides: An opportunity to work toward client-developed recovery and lifestyle objectives An environment that is structured and secure, yet far less restrictive than Primary Care Nutritious meals provided in a supportive family-style environment Flexible lengths of stay Access to ongoing counseling and therapy, holistic and spiritual practices Weekly random drug testing

The Orchard Sober Living Homes Facilities

Women's Extended Care
The Women's Extended Care Facility is located on a beautiful piece of property overlooking the Coastal Mountains and Howe Sound. The sober living house provides a safe and secure environment where clients can begin practicing their new life skills. The residence is tastefully decorated with semi-private and private rooms and houses a maximum of seven women. Other features include cozy common rooms with wood burning fireplaces, large wrap-around decks, an open-plan kitchen and a separate dining room. Our outdoor pool and exercise gym are available to the women in Extended Care and wireless internet is provided.

Who may participate in The Orchard Extended Care Program?

Enrollment in the Extended Care Program is at the sole discretion of The Orchard's clinical staff. At minimum, at least one of the following prerequisites must be met:

• The client has completed The Orchard's 42-day Primary Care Program and wishes to transfer directly into the Extended Care Program.
• The client has completed a primary care treatment program at another recognized treatment facility and wishes to transfer directly (i.e. door-to-door) to The Orchard's Extended Care Program. Individuals entering our Extended Care Program from another treatment center must first complete a minimum of 10 days in The Orchard's Primary Care Program.

Cost of the Orchard Extended Care Program
The cost of the Extended Care Program is $3,500 per month for a minimum stay of three months. This covers room and board, plus regular programming as outlined above. Extra activity costs are the responsibility of the client. Payment is due on the day the client enters the program and on that same date every month thereafter.

The Orchard collects a $1,000 security deposit for clients wishing to reserve a room in our Extended Care facility. The deposit is fully refundable when the client leaves Extended Care as long as there are no extra costs incurred as a result of damages and they have fulfilled the three-month minimum stay.
